CHIEF at Big Sur
Under a gibbous moon, against a backdrop of Redwoods, with smoke from the popcorn kettle wafting over a crowd bundled in fleece and flannel against the 45 degree night, CHIEF screened in Big Sur. The venue was the Henry Miller Library, the occasion the Big Sur Summer Film Series, our host the gregarious Swede Magnus Toren. Magnus, I learned, spent years sailing the Polynesian triangle before finding his way to Big Sur, so it was more than an honor to have him introduce the film. It was a tremendous evening, with a keen and responsive crowd, and I’m glad I made the trip.
I don’t have an adequate photo of the event, so here’s a lonely cyprus clinging to Point Lobos, instead.
